The Small Pleasures in Life

like, licking the bowl when I make cookies. I'm not licking the bowl...but today was the first time Atsede & Kebrom wanted to share in the bowl. Each person took a spoonful, from Paul on down, Atsede & Kebrom took theirs & it was fun to watch the pleasure light up in their eyes. What do you know, not everything Mom offers us to eat tastes strange!! A&K were given the bowl itself & I saw it be passed back & forth. Last comment I heard was Kebrom telling Atsede, he was 'Rabek' (hungry in Tigray) as his possessively slid the bowl in front of himself.

Kebrom's new phrase lately, "I LOVE it that!" Hot cereal with brown sugar, his blue jeans each morning, socks. He was absolutely thrilled with a bag of hand me downs from cousin Spencer. I've never seen a child get so excited about another pair of jeans!! He did decide, 'these too LEETLE' as he says little. Once the boy decides they won't fit, no chance of getting them on his body!! He's quite the morning person, so delightful when he wakes up. Usually chattering away, to himself, to us...he doesn't really care. Apparently his mouth must make up for being silent all night long.

Atsede & JoyLynn are becoming inseparable. So fun to watch that relationship develop. They have even been sleeping together, in a twin bed. Yes, the same twin bed JoyLynn was trying to tell us was too small for her alone. Atsede is also quite the hard worker, very good at sweeping up dry spells. She's been feeding Samson & hopefully is beginning to understand we share the chores, whether we caused the spill or are directly benefited by the result. Difficult lessons to learn. Her English is improving too, as yesterday, she commented, 'I'm not jokin' " after she told a story.

Kebrom also, "I LOVE it that" going to Nana's house. We celebrated Uncle Steve & Aunt Sharla's birthdays last night. Both kids added 'thank you for Nana's house' to their prayers last night.
