Atsede in the waiting room of Children's Hospital
Now, I'm not sure if you can see it...but a bit of panic in her eyes. The doctor appointment made both Atsede & Kebrom VERY nervous. I found myself thinking, what is going on with these children???
Dr. Murray was so very patient & just talked right above all the noise.
Later, was reminding myself what CAUSED that nervous behavior. Can you even imagine what it was like, to get blood work done in Ethiopia? AFTER your mom had just dropped you off at a strange place & left you & brother there? We've heard they basically tie the kids down in the clinic & stab away. Blood work is re-done a month or so after the first blood test. Then, right before coming home with us, their blood work is done again by the doctor chosen by the US embassy.
Every child deserves a mom/dad & loving hug after being subjected to any of those icky tests, and quite possibly ice cream.
