It's official...the 'gimmes' have arrived
It only took 13 weeks for it to become official. The gimmes have arrived. Yesterday at Target, Atsede was trying to convince me she NEEDED things. Like school supplies, book covers, a bicycle, and pencil boxes (basically anything we passed). Like, a backpack. Conversation went something like...
'Mom, LOOK! Atsede need one'
'Atsede, you don't need a backpack.'
Atsede instantly replies, 'GEOFFREY HAS ONE!
I had to laugh! Geoffrey is 18, carries his books back & forth to school. Yes, Geoffrey has a backpack; he needs one. What has THAT to do with Atsede?
In her mind, if he has something...SHE should have it. Is it human nature? Is it child behavior? Is it from going without? Is it from being in a care center setting for 7 months where children made decisions beyond their years? Will I ever know?
