The Yummiest Day Yet!
Wednesday, August 4th, we had a big Glidewell family get together. We went wiffle ball golfing, which all kids enjoyed. After a quick lunch, we had a square dance lesson. Atsede was incredibly cute doing the hokey pokey, the chicken dance...and the Virginia Reel. Dancing in a square, while holding a 40 pound child was tiring...but fun. She was hoping for even more dancing after we all called it quits. I'm very grateful to a large extended family that dives right in with the little ones, making new experiences positive.
Everyone changed into clean clothes, and we boarded a big BUS. Kebrom has never been happier. His eyes could NOT have been any bigger. This took his love of riding in a vehicle to an entirely new level. He watched out the window in complete bliss the entire drive.
Atsede climbed into Aunt Serena's lap (one of her very favorite people) and promptly fell asleep. Must have been all that dancing as she hardly ever sleeps during the day.
The steakhouse was on top of a mountain, 5,500 feet elevation & we started at about 3,000, from what I understand. The view was incredible. Atsede & Kebrom successfully ate at the kids table, which means, of course, Paul & I sat at the adults table! The steakhouse has a pet donkey that brays when he sees people, because people bring him celery treats. All the kids enjoyed feeding the old guy.
We got back on the bus for the drive home to Lolo. Kebrom just couldn't take any more excitement & did fall asleep in my lap 1/2 way home. On a really rare note, I changed him into pajammas without him waking up fully. I assured him Atsede would be in bed soon & he rolled right over & went to sleep.
On the last leg of the ride home, in our Suburban, Atsede announced, "Nana's Happy Birthday, YUMMY!" The ultimate compliment.
