Time just seems to fly by!
Summer is flying by at a crazy rate!!
JoyLynn & Atsede are attending full day VBS at Midtown Church. The children's leader is Paul's cousin. Both are having a wonderful time. When Paul dropped them off on the first day, half of the children there were black. I was SO HAPPY for them to NOT be in the minority, even if for just a short amount of time.
Brenna is doing drivers ed. She wonders why we haven't taken her driving. She doesn't have her official permit from her teacher yet...reason enough for me to wait!! She's doing a great job & not complaining at all about all the early mornings.
Kyra is away at Camp Utmost. I was left with strict instructions about feeding the ducks. Now, getting everyone fed & out the door on time each morning is a feat in itself. Feeding the ducks doesn't even cross my mental radar. THANKFULLY, when the ducks see a person heading out the front door, they LOUDLY make their presence known & that person reminds us to feed them. Usually, it's Paul, slightly terrified at being stalked by our 'friendly' ducks for breakfast. Then, later in the morning, we go out on an egg hunt to find Rapunzel's egg. So far, she hasn't moved her nest, phew, so locating the egg has required minimal effort. Hopefully Kyra is having a wonderful time at camp.
Kebrom continues to be wonderfully entertaining. It seems more so with the quieter house, though, I wonder if he's always this funny, but I just don't hear him when the noise level is so much higher. He's been telling me he wants his birthday list started (it's not til Sept. 3rd, for the record). He wants a gun (a LEETLE one), a sword, a guitar...and tools. He's just sure he can fix Paul's bike. JL's camera quit working & she was talking about how she missing taking pictures & was going to throw it away. I commented, don't throw it away until someone looks at it. Kebrom excitedly shouted, "I LOOK AT IT, I LOOK AT IT."
We went to the Bison Range on Saturday. Kebrom thought all the animals were wonderful. A HUGE buffalo crossed directly behind the car. Several smaller ones right in front of the car, but seriously, this guy was HUGE. We've heard comments galore from the little guy on the animals. He gets bufffalo & butterfly mixed up, so we've had some interesting conversations til we got that cleared up. He'd like to meet a black bear, but not a grizzly. He likes deer. We saw a fawn nestled down in the neighbors field. That pops up in conversation all the time.
Geoffrey is great about playing with Kebrom. So cute, my two boys (nearly 19 & 3)out in the back yard, playing with the foam bat & ball. Geoffrey ran up to the post office for me yesterday & took Kebrom. Well, let's just say Geoffrey's car is way cooler than mom's. And, if Kebrom had his way, his carseat would just STAY in Geoffrey's car.
Paul & I try to keep up with the kids! 4H dog classes are weekly & my 'dog bus' (as Papa calls it), picks up dogs & delivers them with my children to dog class. So hilarious. Family dogs get excited when they see my vehicle. Kebrom & Atsede insist they like dog class too...but it's the climbing toy at the fort they really enjoy.
The kids are a constant delight. I can't believe how far we've come in a year.

Hope the girls had a fun time! We sure enjoyed having them! It really is so neat to have so many black children apart of Midtown :) Thanks for letting them come!
